MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED BY A DRONE!

We brag on our friends from APD, pretty much every chance we can. They’ve taken the use of drones in public safety seriously from the jump, and all of their hard work and training continues to pay off every time a drone is needed.

A few nights ago APD’s SWAT team was sent to the home of a murder suspect. The door was opened by a member of SWAT, but after that, the drone was sent in. In the video, we see the drone slowly fly up to the second story walkway and then carefully fly through the open door. Once inside, we see the drone scan the room for anyone in sight. When no one is spotted, the drone moves forward. The drone being used was a Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual with the spotlight attached to be able to see in the dark rooms. After looking down the hallway, we see someone peek their head out, and then their hands appear held up showing there is no weapon, and the suspect is surrendering to SWAT.

LT. Pete Malecki said it best, “The use of that type of technology with a drone not only makes the apprehension of criminals safer for the police department and the officers involved in the operation, it makes it safer for the suspect, as well as residing neighbors”.

Drones in the hands of members of public safety are once again shown to be essential for safeguarding human life.

FOR THIS SHOOTOUT, YOU’LL NEED TO LOOK UP AT HIGH NOON.

Alright, alright. Amazon is not on to the black market. Not yet anyway. But it was a funny title, right?

This isn’t the first time a drone has been used to deliver an organ a fairly long distance to a patient. In 2019 a drone flew 3 miles to deliver a kidney, but MissionGO just shattered the record by flying over 10 miles from an airport to a hospital. This could be an amazing development in both the medical field and for drones with beyond visual line of sight flights. A huge leap forward in cutting down wait times for patients who need life saving organs.

It’s good to note that the organs that they flew, were not actually for a patient. They were for research. You think they’d just give good organs to a guy with a drone standing in the parking lot of an airport? Probably not, but we’ve got our guy Jake at Hartsfield testing it out.

The truth is there is a whole lot of work to do before they reach the organ transporting big leagues. Right now there are huge risks with this. What if two drones collided and then you have your classic “whose is whose“ situation? Or if Amazon did join the black market and hacked the drones? You’d flood the black market… supply outgrows demand, blah blahblah blahblah. But jokes aside, this is huge news. MissionGO, keep up the awesome work!

IS GEORGIA MAN THE NEW FLORIDA MAN?

There seems to be a pattern of Georgia, guns, and anti drones evolving in this week’s edition of Propeller Heads, and who are we to not roll with that?

A man in Coweta County recently got arrested for shooting at a drone while it was inspecting power lines. The drone was inspecting, not the man. Just for clarity. This forced the pilot into an emergency landing. The company flying the drone was Georgia Transmission Company. They specialize in this type of work, and have been trusted by EMCs all over the state. The company stated that they had let people in the surrounding area know that they would be flying their drone to inspect the power lines, but letting this guy know was probably their undoing. Not once did the drone stray from the right of way into anyone’s yard. So this was truly an unjustified incident.

Georgia Transmission said that the man caused over $15k in damage, which makes us wonder, what kind of aircraft are they flying? They must have had some fancy camera on that drone to warrant that price tag.

Luckily no one was hurt, but let this be a lesson to everyone out there. Bullets beat drones.
