MORE THAN PAPER TOWELS AND DISH SOAP CARGO DRONES USED FOR HEALTH SERVICES

10 October 2019 | Propeller Heads Newsletter

We’ve all heard about drones being used for cargo-haulin’. And of course it’s something we’ve talked about on Propellerheads before. We told ja bout Walgreens using drones to deliver medicines and other items from their store to your door. It’s not just the U.S. Virgin Islands that are thinking about how to use drones for health reasons.

Groups are using commercially available drones, ahem…mostly the DJI M600, to fly medical supplies and samples from small remote clinics to larger hospitals (and back!) in countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Even if on a smaller scale distance-wise than our Virgin Islands crossing, this is a great showing of what drones in public safety can achieve. If we can imagine the technology, why not use it in the best way imaginable? Saving lives.
