Google and Amazon snag a lot of the headlines when it comes to drones and consumer deliveries. But look who just bounced out ahead — it’s UPS! The government just awarded them approval to fly its fleet of drones all around the country. They’re restricted to campus settings but still — it’s an impressively broad approval. They’ll now be able to expand their service to other hospitals,
universities and corporate campuses without having to get permission each time. So far they’ve operated over 1,000 flights around the WakeMed campus in North Carolina, moving blood and tissue samples to the central lab. We’re excited to see where this goes next!
